Egmont Street Eatery (11 Egmont Street)
This hidden little gemstone is becoming more well known every day. Tucked away in a little side street off Dixon Street, it’s cute yet sophisticated, and produces delicious food at all times of the day. It’s partially underground, which just adds to the feeling of exclusivity and elegance that surrounds the place. If you go in the morning grab a donut, as they sell out awfully quick! It became extra famous after winning the Wellington Burger on a Plate competition in 2015, and unsurprisingly, 2016’s burger was just as good. Medium rare mutton in a bao bun, with squid chips (yes, you read correctly!) I am still drooling at the memory of it. It has become a regular in my list of favourite brunch places, both the sweet and savoury options are classically tasty, but always with an Egmont Street twist that makes it wonderfully unique.
Best dish: the menu changes regularly, so it’s hard to tie down a specific dish, but anything involving eggs is usually a winner.
Price range: $20
