Tokeyo (19 Edward Street)

Located in the heart of the CBD, Tokeyo has replaced what used to be Thief, alongside LBQ and Miaow just off Victoria Street. Although the decor hasn’t actually changed that much, the addition of coloured lights changes the entire feel of the place. The Asian-fusion style food is served tapas style, although there are some plates that are bigger than others. The gyoza are beautiful, the chicken karaage delicious, the chicken ball intriguing and the sushi divine. The food is classy, with the overall bill sitting in the mid-expensive range, but you don’t walk away unsatisfied and it feels like a classy night well spent. Great venue for fun dinner with friends but it has an intimate feeling about it too, so definitely suitable for a date.

  1. Definitely a funky place to go. Great atmosphere and great food. Your blog sums it up perfectly. I had a great night at Thief once, but Tokeyo is definitely a classier place than Thief ever was.
