Five Boroughs (corner of Roxburgh and Marjoribanks Streets)

Highly recommended to me by one of my vegetarian friends due to the possibility of vegetarians’ being able to order any burger and having the meat substituted out in exchange for the vegetarian patty (which suddenly opens the burger world up if you are vegetarian) I was surprised by what Five Boroughs was when I went there. It is a take off from an American diner and essentially serves craft beer, burgers and fries, along with a ‘pie of the week’ for dessert. There is also other menu items such as ribs and chicken wings, and of course, thick-shakes. Most importantly, I think the burgers were definitely up to standard, and the fries were even better. It embraces the American diner theme without coming across as tacky, or compromising the quality of the food – which I think is surprisingly hard to achieve nowadays.
