Fratelli Fresh (81 Macleay Street, Potts Point)
As we were staying in Potts Point, naturally we were delighted a Fratelli’s just down the road. Self-proclaimed as one of Sydney and Melbourne’s best Italian restaurants, we couldn’t wait to dive head on into some delicious pasta. To our absolute dismay, when we turned up not long after it opened for the day we learnt that their brunch menu omits not just pasta, but also pizza. We were so hungry that it didn’t take us long to get over it, and as the menu descriptions were so incredibly mouth-watering we had trouble deciding what to order anyway. In the end I settled on a goats cheese, asparagus and vine tomato frittata – which was fantastic.
I’m not sure if all of the stores have the wee Italian supermarket that this one contained, but as well as eating at Fratellis, you can also stock up on all your Italian produce; from mushrooms and pastas, to olives, bread and fresh fruit. It was all really good quality, and was comforting knowing that if this was the food that they sold, they were bound to be cooking their meals with ingredients of a similar quality.
The dinner menu looked spectacular, I would have loved the opportunity to come back and eat here; next time, we had plenty of other places to check out!
