Pulled Pork


I have been trying for so long to create that perfect pulled pork recipe. Whether it be too saucy, too dry, too complex or too time-consuming – I have never found a recipe that is quite right. Well, that’s just changed, and I can’t believe how easy it was. This pulled pork deliciousness only takes about 2 hours on the stove-top (feel free to use a slow cooker if you have one – in which case adjust the timing so that it takes 8 hours on low) and unless you call black beans obscure, none of the ingredients are that difficult to locate. Serve it with what you want; I combined the pork with my Asian Slaw and turned them into tacos.


  • approximately 1 kg of pork, cut into 3- 4 cm cubes. I used a shoulder, and cut it away from the bone
  • 3/4 c chipotle sauce. I used Barkers, and it worked a treat!
  • 2 c stock (beef or chicken is fine)
  • 1 T brown sugar
  • 1 T soy sauce
  • 1 400 g can black beans


  1. Literally, put all the ingredients into a pot, cover and simmer for about 2 hours. DREAMY!
