The Grind (508 Eastbourne Street West)

Finally a break in a serious drought of delicious cafes in Hastings, The Grind is a warm and welcome addition to the scene. It is located on Eastbourne Street; running parallel to Heretaunga Street it is virtually in the centre of town – but without the parking issues of the main street. It is just next to Pak’n’save, so is a great place to stop before or after your shopping. I went there for brunch recently, and the place is so adorable. It is a converted cottage, and has both outdoor and indoor seating. With it’s wooden interior (and exterior) it makes for a very spacious area, with loads of natural lighting. The food itself is delicious and was pretty reasonably priced. And always crucial: good coffee.
